Claudia Vásquez Ramírez is a Colombian filmmaker and editor.
Studied Mass Communications & Journalism at the University of Antioquia and Television Production at Politécnico Jaime Isaza Cadavid. Selected for a 3 month internship at CNN en Español headquarters in Atlanta, 2003. Upon returning, Claudia worked as a General Producer and Documentary Director for over six years at a local production company in her hometown, Medellín, until she traveled to London to study an M.A in Filmmaking at Kingston University, where she participated in the foundation of W.In.C. Films, along with Abbe Leigh Fletcher (lecturer), Petra Niskanen and Sabela Pernas Soto (classmates).
Back from U.K., she worked as a freelance and independent filmmaker, directing documentary short films and web series and collaborated as crewmember and editor on documentary and fiction films. She was also a lecturer at her Alma Mater (U. of A.) and later on at Universitaria Agustiniana, in Bogota, where she was in charge of the documentary area and was a part of the curriculum committee that restructured the Film and TV Program.
Claudia is based in Florida, USA, since 2017 where she works as an editor and continues to participate in collaborative productions.
Awarded the Simón Bolivar Journalistic Award – Best Best Chronicle / TV Report for “Viviana, an intimate journey” (Viviana, un viaje a mi…), 2011; was also shortlisted for the 28º FICCI – India Catalina Awards, 2012 and was part of the Screen Loud Film Festival, Official selection, New York, USA. 2012.
Also received Best Journalistic Work Created for the Web Award for the web series “Camilo’s Dream” (El sueño de Camilo), CIPA 50th Anniversary Award for Journalistic Excellency, 2012.
